Love Is Contrasted With Hate--The Hallmark Of A Christian Is Love

I will betroth you
to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you
to Me In righteousness
and justice,
in loving kindness
and mercy,
I will betroth you to Me
in faithfulness,
and you shall know the LORD.
Hosea 2:19-20

How often has man attempted to bring heaven down to earth? How often has man attempted to do the work of God? Religions have fought against the will of God by attempting in many ways to cause people to believe in God. Islam is but one such religion, even within the history of Christianity there was a time when the Church attempted to force people to believe in God. This can easily be seen by examination of the Inquisition period. This attempt to force people to believe in a religion is so evident within Islam that no one can not see that this is true. but don't forget that other ideologies, i.e., Communism is one such ideology that has as its goal total domination of the world. Therefore, with Islam and with Communism we have two groups of people that have the same outlook for the earth: total domination. When the Church has fallen prey to such ideology and make their theology to be of such that they force people to belong to their Church, their religion, they are as wrong as Islam or any other false teaching. Yet, this is not what the Church was from the beginning.
After the death of Jesus Christ, His appearing to the disciples and some 500 people, and His visible ascension into heaven bodily, Christianity was born, the Church was instituted as a body of people who believed that Jesus Christ was all that He said He was; God in the flesh, the Son of God, the very Wisdom of God, and the Savior for all of God's children by destroying sin. From that beginning in Acts where some 3000 people converted to Christianity, although at that time this was not what this belief was called, they only found in themselves that they were in need of a Savior and by God enabling them by giving to them faith they responded to the preaching of Peter. These travelers to the Passover, and Pentecost festivals took with them this new belief and spread it to those from whom they came, and at the same time the Apostles began preaching to the Gentiles, and some went to foreign lands, according to tradition, some went to India, and beyond, others to Africa, even the Ethiopian who was baptized took his new found belief to the African land of Ethiopia. Christianity spread into northern Africa and into Greece, and Italy, Spain, and France, and beyond. This spread of Christianity did not occur by force, rather that those who put their faith in the Doctrine of Jesus Christ as Savior and as God come to earth to destroy sin, and that fact that they knew who despicable their were lived a life according to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the the Apostles. This did not come without persecution and death to these Christians, not because they warred against unbelievers, rather due to the rulers who despised this sect for other reasons.
Pliny the Younger on "Practices of Christians (Sections 7-10) states: Pliny then details the practices of Christians: he says that they meet on a certain day before light where they gather and sing hymns to Christ as God. They take various oaths not to do any crimes such as fraud, theft, or adultery, and then dine together. However, Pliny says, all of these practices were abandoned by the Christians after Pliny forbade any political associations (hetaerias or “club”). These clubs were banned because Trajan saw them as a “natural breeding ground for grumbling” about both civic life and political affairs. One such instance of a banned club was a firemen’s association; likewise, Christianity was seen as a political association that could be potential harmful to the empire. However the Christians seem to have willingly complied with the edict and halted their practices. Pliny ends the letter by saying that Christianity has spread not only through the cities, but also through the rural villages as well (neque tantum...sed etiam), but that is will be possible to check it. He argues for his procedure to Trajan by saying that the temples and religious festivals, which before had been deserted, are now flourishing again and that there is a rising demand for sacrificial animals once more – a dip and rise which A.N. Sherwin-White believes is an exaggeration of the toll Christianity had taken on the traditional cult.   Trajan (was Roman Emperor from 98 to 117 A.D.) replied to Pliny: Trajan’s short reply to Pliny overall affirms Pliny’s procedure and details four orders: (1) Do not seek out the Christians for trial. (2) If the accused are guilty of being Christian, then they must be punished. (3) If the accused deny they are Christians and show proof that they are not by adorning the gods and such, then they may be pardoned. (4) Pliny should not allow anonymous lists of accusations. Leonard L. Thompson calls the policy “double-edged,” since, “on the one hand, Christians were not hunted down. They were tried only if accusations from local provincials were brought against them. But if accused and convicted, then Christians...were killed simply for being Christians.”Therefore Pliny’s view of Christians was not necessarily persecution but rather Christians were only executed when they were brought before him at trial and confessed; however, pardons were also given to those who denied such charges. de Ste. Croix says the recommended course of action “was ‘accusatory’ and not ‘inquisitorial,’” so that it was never the governors themselves but instead private, local accusers (delectores) who brought forth accusations.
The contrast is so evident between those, Islam especially, between hate and love, those who drive people to believe through some form of hate, and those, Christians that show the love of God, not only to other Christians but also to pagans. In the face of persecution and death the contrast was not one of hopelessness and fear for the Christians showed their faith and how to live this life according to God's word. During the plagues that occurred many times in the Ancient world, these epidemics was an opportunity for the Church to give a witness to the hope that was within them. Instead of fear and despondency these early Christians expended themselves in works of mercy, causing pagans to be dumbfounded for most of them when a plague or disease would come upon a city would leave that city leaving behind those who were sick, this was not true of Christians who stayed behind and helped those in need. These Christians expressed the Love of God in deeds of compassion. Christians did not just bury their dead, rather the provided funds for pagans who were without funds so that they could have a proper burial. They supplied food on a daily basis. Further the Church provided funds so that slaves could be emancipated. During the Plague in Alexandria when nearly everyone else fled, the early Christians risked their lives for one another by simple deeds of washing the sick, offering water and food, and consoling the dying. Their care was so extensive that Julian eventually tried to copy the church’s welfare system. It failed, however, because for the Christians it was love, not duty, that motivated them. These things the Christians died at the risk of their own lives, and by doing so they saved an immense number of lives. They reduced mortality, and gave simple provisions and water allowing the sick who could not cope for themselves to recover instead of perishing. Pagans took notice that these Christians were willing at their own risk to their lives to aid those who were ailing. Interesting, that those Christians who stayed to helped became immune and were able to aid those who were afflicted. Therefore, instead of fleeing disease and death, these Christians went about ministering to the sick, helping the poor, the widowed, the crippled, the blind, and the orphaned, and the aged. The Roman empire was forced to recognized and admire their works and dedication: "Look how they love one another."
Can you see the contrast between a religion of hate, and one of love? It is easy to see that Christianity did not spread due to force, rather it was the lives of Christians that appealed to others, and by means of this love shown to all, Christianity spread, and the Gospel reached all who are of God's family. The Question for us: Do we exercise this love, do we live the life that Jesus presented as the way for His people? Or, are we so self-consumed for pleasure and entertainment, that we leave this humanitarian approach to others? The People of Islam are not won over to convert to Christianity by any other means than the Gospel, being preached, and lived out by Christians. So what if we are persecuted, and killed? Do you believe that the promise of God is true, that you will upon your death be received in heaven, that is your soul, awaiting the time when God will send forth His Son to bring to Him all Christians and this He will do bodily, removing Satan and sin for all eternity, whereby we will live in this world that God has prepared for His family. The difference between Islam and Christianity is a wide chasm, for one is a doctrine of hate and the other is a doctrine of love, agape love, that is a principle God love. The Muslim people do not need Christians to shrink back from them, they need the Gospel, and they need to see, as those in Ancient times did, a living Gospel.

Go therefore and make disciples
     of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, teaching them to
     observe all things that I
have commanded you and lo,
I am with you always, even
to the end of this age.

The Light Of Chritianity vs. The Darkness Of Islam

Hear my voice, O God,
in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear
of the enemy....
The righteous shall be glad
in the LORD, and trust in Him.
And all the upright in heart
shall glory.
Psalm 64:1,10

Christians place their trust in God who providentially will provide preservation of life for His children, and they, we, will be blessed. When man places their trust in their own wisdom, in their own predetermined methods to cause people to believe in God, then all they are doing is the will of Satan even though they believe they are doing the will of God. Man is not the light of the world without Jesus who is the light of man: "I Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it" (John 1:4,5). As Christians we are to be the light that shines forth from the true light Jesus Christ and we are not to walk in darkness: "This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. but if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin" (1John 1:5-7). The message of Christians is not convert or die, not to be burdened with such as Shiara Law, not to force people to believe in a god, rather it is the Gospel that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that by believing in Him salvation from all sin is yours and you will live with Him eternally. Our war is a spiritual war, and we fight with spiritual means, that is the word of God, the sword of God, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). In this chapter of Ephesians by Paul we are advised to put on the whole armor of God: "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of he devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:11-12). We are able to expose the falsehood of ideologies and theologies if we are awake allowing the Holy Spirit that lives in us to direct us and guide us: "But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is lift. Therefore He says: 'Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil" (Ephesians 5:12-15).
The message of the Gospel has always had to face evil as Paul mentioned that his day was evil, so is ours as we face not only the darkness of Islam, but the darkness of Communism, Hedonism, Atheism, liberalism, naturalism, and more, all attempting to destroy the Christianity and are the wiles of the Devil. We fight this war with the Gospel, and with our lives manifesting the light of Jesus Christ, and by means of that light we overcome the darkness. This does not mean that we are to be apathetic, to sit back and allow things to happen using the justification that God will one day remove all sin, this He will do, but until then we are to be His arms and legs, His mouth, and to spread the Gospel, the Gospel of peace, and love. Does this mean that we are to be pacifist? No! Jehovah Witnesses uses that means to avoid being in the military, yet, we are to be able to fight when necessary invaders whose desire is to rule people with darkness, and not the light of truth. There is one truth, not many as this pluralistic world would have, and that truth is found in the God's word, the Bible, all other so-called "truths" are nothing more than lies. If we are not living according to God's commandments, His precepts and principles as set forth in His word, then we are grieving the Holy Spirit: "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:20-30). Mahatma Ghandi said: "I would become a Christian if not for Christians." Do people see Jesus Christ in you, are you living the life that God has set forth for His people? Or are you so conspiratorial, that everything is some form of conspiracy, and feel then that you have no control? You don't! God Does! When our lives are shining as light in the world then darkness is removed, and this darkness may be that which is causing one of His people, one that is caught up in Islamic theology to not see the truth, and live in fear and under the thumbs of those Islamic leaders that have only one purpose and that purpose is to bring all under Islam. Yet, God has said to His people to take the Gospel to all, to all the world, to make disciples, to do more than He did by spreading throughout the world that He is the Savior, that He is God manifested in flesh: "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory" (1Timothy 3:16).
I will in the next upcoming blogs show give the contrast between Christianity and Islam. Notice this important fact, I am speaking of Islam, that theology for there are many of those who are Muslim that when hearing the word of God, being empowered by God, enabled by Him through faith given to them by God, will respond to the Gospel. We do not know who they are, but God does, and we preach to all and allow the Holy Spirit to work regeneration into the child of God. This is our work while we reside temporarily on this earth: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences" (2Corinthians 4:10-11).
Allow me to ask this question again: Where are the Christians? Where are men rising up to take the reigns of leadership, first in the home, in the Church, in the community, in the state, in the nation? What is keeping you from fighting the good fight, both spiritually, and in the world? Is it TV programs, maybe it is running to and fro, taking children to events, which are not all bad unless they are taking a person from the Church, from living as God's word says we are to live, taking care of those who are our brothers and sisters in the Lord, mowing lawns, fixing windows, washing floors, making sure the have the necessary things, etc. These things were the things that set apart Christians from the beginning for they would not participate in the games, the did not run away when sickness plagued a town as it did in Antioch, and they did not live as others, they lived for Christ. Is this true of you? I hope so for if the darkness is to be removed, then the light must shine. So light your light so shine.
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no
might He increases strength.
     Even the youths shall faint
and be weary, and the young men
     shall utterly fall, but those
who wait on the LORD shall renew
     their strength; they shall mount
up with wings of eagles, they shall
run and not be weary, they shall
walk and not be faint.

The Holy Spirit Is The Spirit Of Truth---Satan is the Spirit Of Falsehood

But He turned and said to Peter,
'Get behind Me Satan! You are
an offense to Me, for you are not
mindful of the things of God,
but the things of Men.'
Then Jesus said to His disciples,
'If anyone desires to come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up
his cross, and follow Me.
For whoever desires to save
his life will lose it, but whoever
loses his life for My sake will find it.
For what profit is to a man if he gains
the whole world, and loses his own soul?
Or what will a man give in exchange
for his soul? For the Son of Man will come
in the glory of His Father with His angels,
and then He will reward each according
to his works.'
Matthew 16:23-27

So often men will take a Scripture or a set of verses and make a doctrine out of them without determining the context: it is the context, context, context, that determines what the verses are actually saying to us. Not only should the immediate context be considered but the the teaching of the Bible as a whole, the chapter, the book, the people to whom it is written, and then the life of the Scripture will be truth and not falsehood; but Satan enjoys the fact that men will not do this and will make Scripture say what they want Scripture to say and to its meaning. Satan is the corrupter of truth and the trouble maker of this world for him to accomplish his fight for authority over man, this world, he uses man to do his fighting by instilling in them false teaching. Jesus when addressing Peter He said; "Get behind me Satan...." (Matthew 1623a). Notice this, He did not say get behind me Peter and it was Satan that was an offense to Him because it was falsehood that was coming out of the mouth of Peter by the workings of Satan and by means of this falsehood blasphemy was strewn against God. God will be victorious over Satan and all his hordes: do you believe that? Do you believe in the promises of God that there is no fear in you only a waiting on the day that He comes with His angels to redeem His chosen people and put an end to Satan and the Spirit of truth will reign eternally without having the spirit of falsehood to try and draw men away from the truth? We are not to be complacent and apathetic, we are to take the cross, this is not the cross upon which Jesus died rather it is the Gospel: "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with the wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. for the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1Corinthians 1:17-18). We are to deny ourselves, not as the Muslim does in their jihad, or the destruction of innocent people to further their cause, rather to place Jesus Christ first in our lives, in everything we do, and take notice of the things we think we should have, the right to things that would make us happy in this life, things that might give us some feeling of piety, no, rather we are to have first in our life Jesus Christ and the love of Jesus Christ towards men and women, teaching children the truth of God's word..
Mistakes are being made by the government when they align themselves with those they consider to be "dove" like, not so radical, to use them to combat the "left" or the more radical idealist who are causing havoc. The government officials believe that the silence of those Muslims that reside in quietude in this country are "OK" and harmless, but how can this be for when "push comes to shove" those who follow the Qur'an will align themselves with Islam in all its purpose to rule the world with Islam as the only religion and with all the Shiara laws to be enforce. This seemingly quiet invasion of people into the nations, to increase themselves in number, to push for reforms that are for their benefit, to teach our children at universities that Islam is a peaceful religion, and to have mosques adjacent to universities, and with the liberal teacher teaching such things that all people have the right to their truths, it is no wonder that those who have succumbed to such teaching are allowing this country to be invaded and overtaken by such ideology as Islam. Many are just complacent and apathetic, they just don't want to be bothered, to be left alone and let them just enjoy life (the Humanist Manifesto #12: "Believing that religion must work increasingly for joy in living, religious humanists aim to foster that creating in man, and to encourage achievements that add to the satisfaction of life), this calms the need to fight against any religion and to view religion as being some sort of crutch and then to avoid addressing religion, allowing the fostering of Islam to any who may seek to know: where are the Christians? We are doing many things, that is correct, but what about you? Love of Christ starts at home, and then to the local Church, then to the community, we seem to have it backwards, we address community issues, then we do some things for the Church, and at times, maybe, we teach our children. This is not so with the Muslim people, they teach their children at home and encourage them to be good Muslims. Islamic principles are instilled into these children and how they should act towards others so that the real Islamic beliefs are hidden from view. Christians should be teaching their wives, their children first, at home, intentionally leading them in the ways of Jesus Christ. But, we have fallen prey to the idol of entertainment, to having the joys of life, and we miss teaching them that this temporal world is just that temporal and that we have a responsibility to live as Jesus Christ instructed, and to live for Him, to make disciples, to allow Christ to lead in everything a person does, then and only then can we have influence that will stave off the infection of Islam or other heretical ideologies, theologies, that attempt to subvert Christianity.
I will next show the contrast between Christianity and Islam. This will give us the impetus to not become what Samuel Adams (1722 - 1803), a founding father of the United States and a signer of the Constitution who said: "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, no can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their manners, they will sink under their own weight without the aid of foreign invaders." (Italics mine). For the most part, the people of Islamic faith are patient, they will will wait, and do all they need to do under the spotlight of people who are so involved in their own happiness that they cannot or will not see the threat. The question is how are we as Christians to address this threat, this will now be addressed.

For it is written:
     'I will destroy the wisdom
of the wise, and bring to nothing
     the understanding of the prudent.'
                                     1Corinthians 1:19; cf. Isaiah 29:14).

To God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever, Amen
