On this day, July 4, 2012 we celebrate Independence Day: but for some this day is not celebrated in the manner that this country was formed, they do not believe that this country was founded upon Christian Biblical precepts, commandments, in fact the denigrate even our early fathers of this country. As for Christians even some of them have fallen prey to this false ideology that certain men were not Christian or that at best they were deist and that we cannot trust that they used the Bible and their beliefs in God, the creator to establish the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. This is not true of Authentic Biblical Christians, those who have taking the time to examine these early men and how this country came to be.
The series of events that came to develop this wonderful country, the United States can be said to begin with certain documents: The Magna Carta (June 15,1215 A.D.). A few excerpts from this document: "Know that we, by the will of God and for the safety of our soul, and of the souls of all our predecessors and our heirs, to the honour of God and for the exalting of the holy church and the bettering of our realm..." "1. First of all have granted to God, and, for us and for our heirs forever, have confirmed, by this our present charter, that the English church shall be free...."
The Declaration of Rights: (October 19, 1765): "The members of this Congress, sincerely devoted, with the warmest sentiments of affection and duty to His Majesty's person and government inviolably attached to the present happy establishment of the Protestant succession...."
The Declaration of Independence: (July 4, 1776): "When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Constitution of the United States: (September 17, 1787):
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. (All Italics mine).
As Christians we are to become made into the image of Jesus Christ and follow after the pattern that He set forth and that pattern was not that we should abstain from things that in this world for we are in this world and we have the responsibility to ensure that truthful laws are established, that ideologies that are contrary to the Bible are not enacted, for we are to bring justice, as far as possible to our world and this we do as did the early men and women who came to this country to establish a government that is not to be oppressive, and to allow for the freedom of religion. This was not done by them sitting back and waiting for God to do this, they took the "bull by the horns" and even at the cost of death they went forward even against the King of England, and established this country, the United States. We can be an effective force, that is, if we do not sit back and be apathetic, to ensure that the laws of this country are not established by men who are not Christian, that is making laws that violate the Scriptures. How? One sure way is to vote! Another way is to raise up Christian men who will run for office and make laws that are Scriptural, not to make this a religio/political country, rather that this country remains free, and people of all faiths may worship even if we do not agree with them. Not that we allow for so-called religions that are oppressive and allow for the killing of those who do not agree with them, rather to make sure that the people of this country are free, and that we have establish justice. Was this not what God did with His Son? He came to demolish forever sin, and to establish justice, as we who are "little Christs" that is Christians must do the same.
On this day, celebrate that this country establish a land where freedom reigns, and then move forward to ensure that this freedom is not infringed upon as some have been doing to the destruction of the laws established by the founders of this country. To end this end allow me to quote for the book: "George Washington's Sacred Fire" by Peter A. Lillback with Jerry Newcombe: Chapter 24, pp. 485, 486, "Religious liberty was born in America, and George Washington made a major contribution toward the establishment or religious freedom under our government. Through the influence of the United States, he made major impact on the existence of religious freedom in the world as well. In May 1789 he answered a letter from the General Assembly of Presbyterian Churches in the United States:
"While I reiterated the professions of my dependence upon Heaven as the source of all public and private blessings; I will observe that the general prevalence of piety, philanthropy, honest, industry, and economy seems, in the ordinary course of human affairs, particularly necessary for advancing and conforming the happiness or our country.
While all men within our territories are protected in worshipping the Deity according to the dictates of their consciences; it is rationally to be expected from them in return, that they will be emulous of evincing [striving to prove] the sanctity of their professions by their innocence of their lives and the beneficence of their actions; for no man who is profligate in his morals, or a bad member of the civil community, can possibly be a true Christian, or a credit to his own religous society (Charles Francis Adams, ed, Letters of John Adams--Addressed to His wife (Boston: Charles C. Little and James Brown, 1841), vol. 1, 23-24.
There it is, we have a responsibility to ourselves, our families and to the people of this Great Nation, the United States of America a Republic for which it stands. Celebrate, remember, get involved, pray for guidance and the Holy Spirit will guide you, this is to exercise our freedom in God and for the betterment of our families, our communities, our states, and our nation. Praise God for we live in a country whereby we can control what occurs, and to make for a better world.
