Salvation: Not Of Works: It Is Belief!

I have manifested Thy name unto the men
which Thou gavest Me out of the world:
Thine they were, and Thou gavest them Me;
and they have kept thy word. Now they have
known that all things whatsoever Thou hast given
Me are of Thee. For I have given unto them the
words which Thou gavest Me; and they have
received them, and have known surely that
I came out from Thee, and they have
believed that Thou didst send Me.
John 17:6-8

In any study or examination there are some things that must be taken into account: 1. There must be references to any statement that is made that is not told to be an opinion. 2. A hard look at the operative words: i.e., may, possible, will be, could be, if, etc., and it must be determined is the word is a noun, or is it an adjective. As a noun it refers to a person or a thing: i.e., a skilled worker, or a spy, etc., and as an adjective it has an effect or force, it is significant and an important key. Example: " I will go, will bring a salad." "If", however, is the operative word, since I am not sure that I can go" (www. merrian-webster.com/dictionary/operative). 3. Any argument must be determined if that argument has weight, or warrant. How do we do this? By having an understanding of what constitutes and argument. An argument most notably known is that it is arguing, a quarrel or disagreement. It is more: it is a coherent series of reasons, statements,or facts intended to support or establish a point of view. A reason given for or against a matter under discussion. It can be a form of rhetorical expressions intended to convince or persuade. Operatives then are not always negative but can be used to give warrant to a matter, a positive.
In this prayer of Jesus He is looking back and uses this verb "manifested" in an aorist tense, that is, He had shown to the world that He was the One sent forth to be the Savior and those men who believed were given to Him. Those men who believed were men that God had approved and they were His, His to do whatever He so desired. What was His desire? He sent His Son to be Savior and even before His death those men of God were not accounted to given to Jesus. Before this time men of God, men of Jehovah called upon and believed upon Jehovah. Now, God had come to earth as the Son of God, the Son of God who has existed for all eternity, the Word of God, and now through and by Jesus would men come to God and know God. The old sacrifices were to be taken away, a new covenant was to be established after the death of Jesus, His resurrection and ascension into heaven. The New Testament is not just a series of letters or writings, even though inspired by God to be written: a testament is a covenant. We do not call upon Jehovah as did the Hebrews of old, we have the promise established in the Old Covenant fulfilled and now a New Covenant was established and we call upon the name, the power of Jesus, all that that can be ascribed to the name of Jesus who is the Christ. This is an important point: The men came to know through the works and teachings of Jesus that He was and is the Promised Messiah and by that they came to believe and received this knowledge and came to believe that God had sent Jesus as promised. Now, this prayer was given to God by Jesus and Jesus' disciples were Hebrew and those words that they were of God, the God of old, Jehovah so that they were God's men. Now once again, I point this out: they believed, received that belief that Jesus is the Savior and even though they would have questions when Jesus died upon the cross it was this manifestation that had led them prior to the death of Jesus to believe that He was the Only Begotten Son of God, the Savior that caused them to become great men of God. It is upon them, their reception of the truth of Jesus that the Christian Church, the Authentic Christian Church was established and is to be established in our day and until He returns for His bride.
In our study, our examination, our testing, we should know the verbs and how they are being used. In the opening verses we have a verb "manifested," and "believed," and "received," and "gavest," and "were," and "have known." The argument is clear: Jesus manifested, the disciples came to know what Jesus manifested was proof that He was the Messiah, and they received that knowledge and believed, furthermore, God now gave them to His Son Jesus Christ. We too have the words and manifestation as to who Jesus is, and we too have the ability to choose whether or not we desire or want to believe. When a person comes to belief in Jesus as the Bible manifests Him to be, as He has shown us as to Who He is we are given to Him. When we are given to Jesus we are His possession and we become responsible for Him: "Ye shall be witnesses of Me" (Acts 1:8). We are His and by His promises we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit sealing us for eternity and that spirit that comes in is not that of doing anything for Jesus, but being a perfect delight to Him. You are now His and He is carrying out His enterprises through you and me.
BE ENTIRELY HIS!

What shall I render unto the LORD
for all His benefits toward me?
I will take the cup of salvation,
and call upon the name of the LORD.
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in
the presence of all His people.
                        Psalm 116:12-14

Offer yourself to God!
