The Doctrine Of Creationism Of The Soul

For David says concerning Him;
‘I foresaw the LORD always before my face,
for He is at my right hand,
that I may not be shaken.
Therefore my heart rejoiced,
and my tongue was glad;
moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.”
Acts 2:25–28; cf. Psalm 16:8–11

            Luke in this recording of what David spoke concerning life, the soul, and what he could expect for himself, and prophesied concerning the Messiah, Jesus Christ would not be left in the grave, Hades, as is the word in this Scripture; not Gehenna, a place of no return for the dead for Hades will be thrown in the Lake of Fire, a representation in words to denote Gehenna: :The sea gave up the dad who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 29:13–15. This should shake the timbers of anyone who reads these words; We all are to be judged, not on what we say, rather on what we do, not salvation do to works, rather, how you exercised your faith in God. Do you believe in His Son as Savior, or are you just a happy soul who does not care about the future. You have no future, you have no hope.  You are the most miserable person who strives to find some kind of happiness in this life as there is for you no other life. For those of us who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, that God, the Triune God, the Creator, the Maintainer of life, the Controller of all things that occur so that His purpose will be accomplished: are you following His commands, are you placing God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy  Spirit as the priority of your life? Are you exercising the love of God by picking up your cross and following Him, that is this simply: Which of the Ten Commandments are you ignoring? The soul will be rescued from Hades, your life, as a child of God will live eternally. Scripture assures us that the soul is not divisible as the Traducianists teach, or has lived preexistent to the creation of man, Adam. The Doctrine of Creationism is without doubt as any study of the Scriptures will testify is most consistent with the nature of the soul. Christians admit that the soul is immaterial and spiritual. Is this too hard for you to understand; that there can be a life which is not material, that is spiritual? If you cannot believe in this then you cannot believe in God being spiritual, without form, without a body and is everywhere, One who is without beginning or end. If you don’t believe in a Spiritual God, then you are like the Gnostics that believed that while there is a higher God all other gods, including Satan, Jesus Christ are just emanations from this higher source, or as do Mormons, believe that God is anthropomorphic, a man, that the souls are anterior to their being placed into created man; none of which is to be found in Scripture. This is serious, it is a serious difficulty that those who believe in Traducianism, that the soul is divisible as they advocate, yet does not have the support of Scripture, that many of the Traducianists try to avoid this fact by saying that their theory does not support any such separation of the soul. This denial is of no avail for they still maintain that the same numerical essence which constituted the soul of Adam constitutes our souls. Now, if this be so then we have a problem that needs addressing for if this is true then humanity is in at leas a general sense only general essence making man only a mode of existence, or that which was given to Adam is distributed to his posterity dividing the soul and his posterity receives only partially the soul of Adam as the soul of Adam is divided among all his posterity. This is separation of the soul to the multitudes of Adam’s descendants. If there is general essence among men and this is a divided among men then there is derivation of essence which implies a separation or division of essence. This is to say that numerically the soul, the essence of man which has the identity of Adam in each man then Traducianism would be true that the soul is passed from Adam into his posterity, and then this posterity would instill into their posterity the soul, and the essence of Adam, all this be propagation or generation. This Scripture does not teach. We then look at another argument in favor of creation and against Traducianism; This is to be derived from Scripture as to the Person of Jesus Christ. This will be continued next week the Lord willing to give us aid for our understanding of the soul which will then lead us back to the doctrine of Original Sin.
            The Sabbath is two days away: are you preparing this to be as God commanded; a day of rest, a day for the Lord? I hope so; Saturday is the final day to prepare for the needs of the Sabbath.

God Gives The Soul: Not Parents

The burden of the word of the LORD
against Israel. Thus says the LORD,
who stretches out the heavens,
lays the foundation of the earth,
and forms the spirit of man within him:
Zechariah 12:1
Thus says God the LORD, who created
the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread forth the earth and that
which comes form it, who gives
breath to the people on it:
Isaiah 42:5

                        We now approach the doctrine of Creationism as the common doctrine of the Church, especially the theologians of the Reformation, is that the soul is not generated or derived from parents, rather, it is created by the immediate agency of God. As has been shown in previous blogs that the doctrine or belief in the preexistence of the soul, which is to be found in such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and in more modern times, Mormonism, and the doctrine of Traducianism, whereby the soul of man is derived from parents, is not Scriptural, that is, Scripture does not support such beliefs or doctrines. Does Scripture support the doctrine of Creationism? Let us look at the arguments in favor of Creationism of the soul. Is this doctrine consistent with the representation of the soul given in Scripture? Consistency is important for if Scripture is inconsistent in any form then we are to reject Scripture; we cannot then rely on Scripture as being true or a source of truth, as coming from a consistent and unchangeable God. When we examine the original account of creation: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7), we must notice a marked distinction that is made between the body and the soul, one is from the earth, the other from God. This is consistent throughout Scripture. Next, we must notice that the body and the soul represent two different origins, and substances. The wise writer of Ecclesiastes points this distinction: “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7). This difference between soul and body can be given this distinction; The origin of the soul is higher and different than that of the body, for the soul is from God, the body from the earth. God gives the spirit, the body is manufactured from the dust of the ground. The soul is never said to be made as the body is said to be made. The soul is never given as from a material source, the body is given as being made from a material source. When we examine the opening Scriptures we can see that they agree with the opening account of creation, the body and the soul. God is said to have breathed into man the breath of life which is immaterial, and that the soul has its origin from God. God is called: “Then they fell on their faces and said, ‘O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and You be angry with all the congregation” (Numbers 16:22)? It would be a mistaken notion if it is to be said that God is the God of the bodies of all men as the soul stands in relation to God and has its creator, God. The body does not stand in that position to Him. The writer of Hebrews states: Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live” (Hebrews 12:7)? The thesis presented in this Scripture is that God is the Father of all spirits and deserves our subjection, and the antithesis here is between the fathers of our bodies and the Him who is the Father of our spirits. Our bodies come from our parents, and our spirits come from God. In the New Testament this doctrine of creation, that of the soul, that it is from God, our bodies are of this earth and generated by our parents is forward by Paul when he mentions that those who had not seen his face in the flesh (Colossians 2:1) speaks of the life he was now living in the flesh. Paul in speaking and writing to the Philippians says: “Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you” (Philippians 1:24) is reminding the Philippians that he should remain in his mortal flesh. When the Psalmist states of the Messiah: “Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope for You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy one to see corruption” (Psalm 16:9–10),
                        By means of many Scriptures there will be additional revelations in regards this subject as to the origination of the soul, that the soul is from God, given to man by God, and that the body is from parents. The authority of Scripture denies the doctrine of preexistence of the soul, or that of the Traducianists whose doctrine is that the soul is from our parents. We need more enlightenment of this subject therefore we must examine the nature of the soul which is the content of the next blog.

And what agreement has the temple
            Of God with idols? For you
Are the temple of the living God.

Jesus Christ Born Of A Woman: Jesus Was A Man, But Was God

Thus the heavens and the earth,
and all the host of them.
were finished.
And on the seventh day God
ended His work which He had done,
and He rested on the seventh day
from all His word which He had done.
Then God blessed the seventh day
and sanctified it, because in it
He rested from all His work which
God had created and made.
Genesis 2:1–3

            There are those who will point to the above Scripture and state that by God resting on the seventh day that this implies that God ended His creating energy and was never again to be exerted. How this is to be understood, according to a Traducianist, is that there is a line drawn between the immediate creation and the production of effects in nature, by second cause under the providential control by God. This is opposite to the doctrine of creationism which assumes that God is constantly, from the beginning and now producing something out of nothing, ex nihlo. Here then lies a problem for we do not know how God by His agency operates within second causes, it is mediate, or immediate, but we do know this, God cannot be bound by simple providential direction, that is, that God has no control over second causes and waits for second causes to occur then providentially exercise control. God, being God, operates in all time His omnipresent power through means and without means in the whole sphere of history and nature. Now, it is true that Traducianists argue in favor of this fact, that the sin of Adam is transmitted to his posterity. They insist that to explain this is to admit that Adam’s sin is our sin and out guilt, and that Adam’s voluntary transgression has been transmitted to us, yet, we cannot at this time delve into this fact until I return to the doctrine of original sin. At the present it is enough that to repeat the remark I just made, that the fact is one thing and the explanation of the fact is another; we must look back into history that in all ages of the Church it has been admitted that the sin of Adam in a true and important sense is our sin, furthermore, we receive from Adam our corrupt nature, but to say that this necessitated the acceptance of Traducianism is not so clear that that we must accept the Traducianist Doctrine as it has been denied by the vast majority of the most powerful defenders of the Christian faith who defended the doctrine of Original Sin. There are those who call the doctrine of creationism Pelagius principle, that God will save those who overcome by themselves and then by their actions to accept Jesus Christ as Savior God will save them, that the sin of Adam has not been passed down to his posterity; this is ignorant. With some force of argument there has been and is that the Traducianist theory involves the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was born of a woman, He was the seed of the woman. It is sand that by this birth that as to both soul and body derived from his human mother that He cannot be truly of the same race as us. Lutheran theologians following this though say: If Christ would not have assumed the soul of the soul of Mary, the human soul does not ransomed him” (Italics mine), but this does not follow for all that is necessary is that Jesus Christ be a man and a son of King David. This is the same sense that King David’s posterity is from King David, but the facdt is that there is one difference, the miraculuous conception of Jesus Christ. Was not Jesus Christ from the substance of his mother as is any other child which would born of her substance? Yes, but the birth of Jesus Christ doen not determine the same sense; He was concieved miraculously by the Holy Spirt. A favourable argument by the Tranducianist is this undeneable fact of the transmission of the ethnical, national, family, and even the pecularities of family, the pecularites of mind and temper that seem to envince that there is a derivation of both the body and the soul, that in which the pecularities inhere. But, this argmenjt is not conclusive. Why? Because it is impossible for us to determine the proximate causes for thise pecualirarites, to what are they due is inclusive. What we may have as a seemingly conclusion is that those pecularites may be due to the physical constitution, this cannnt be denied that the mind is influenced by the body. Furthermore, the body having certain pecularities of a race, nation, or family, by within certain limits determine the character of the soul.
            Does this argument favor Traducianism? We must next examine the doctrine of Creationism so that we can measure one against the other before coming to a conclusion. This is what will be done next. A final remark by me is that we must be careful in saying that when God rested that He concluded His work of creating something out of nothing. To say that God would not create ex nihlo is to come to a wrong conclusion making God subject to outside forces; this cannot be done for nothing is done without the will of God. If God does not will a thing, then that then does not happen or exist. To say that God sits back and allows second causes to just happen without control is the doctrine of Deism. Deism led to liberalism within the Christian Church; a subject that in time I will address. Wait now for the next examination for the doctrine of Creationism before making any conclusion but until then, do what God did, rested on the seventh day, reiterated that we should do the same in the Ten Commandments, and we are rest from all work that is unecssary on that day, we are to give to God one day in seven. Are you doing that? Or, are you making Sunday a day of fun and doing things which are not giving to God one day in seven?

The testimony of the LORD is sure,
